Without any exaggeration, DJ B-LORD is without a doubt, the most recognizable, highest paid, most credible and most popular DJ in South Carolina. All this coming, after ten years of non-stop, round-the-clock grinding, and stretching the limits that other DJ’s have chosen to accept. From rockin’ on the radio five days a week, (E93 Jamz (93.1 in Savannah, GA.)) to doing clubs nationwide and as far out as Germany, to droppin’ award winning mix CD’s to keep the streets buzzin’, to making sure you see his face on TV, B-LORD is killin’ the competition by a long shot. Getting his start in the clubs of Florence SC at the young age of 15, B-LORD made sure his presence was felt from the beginning. After touring the local clubs and college circuits he went on to be the first DJ from the South to appear on the popular BET show, Planet Groove in 1998. From there he graduated to national college tours with groups like The Youngbloodz. Then in 1999, B-LORD made his first of 17 appearances on BET’s RAP CITY: The Basement. Q. What would you say is the quote on quote secret recipe for your success?

A. My secret sauce is having unwavering faith and trusting God to guide my steps. I stay humble, motivated, and level-headed through prayer. I wouldn’t be anything without God and my faith. Being myself is key—God set me apart with a purpose before anyone had an opinion. I love being unique and wouldn't want to be anyone else. I’m the blueprint, and God made that clear!

Q. What was your favorite part about what you do?

A. Here’s a concise summary of your answer:  "My favorite part of what I do is getting paid to live the life I always dreamed of and connecting with amazing, talented people. Coming from a place where opportunities are limited, I refuse to be a product of my environment—I choose to be the change. Living my dreams and inspiring others warms my heart because that’s what life is all about: impacting others positively, being there for each other, and pouring into one another.

Q. Name a time where you've faced adversity in your career? And, what impact did it have on you or your career?

A. I’ve faced plenty of adversity in my career, especially in an industry where you get more 'No's' than 'Yes's.' But all it takes is that one 'Yes'—and that one 'Yes' from God. When faced with challenges, I remind myself that God wouldn’t bring me this far just to stop now. He never breaks His promises, and that’s what keeps me going. I trust the vision He promised me and pray about everything.

Q.  Is there something in particular that you want people to know about you or your art?

A. I want people to know that I’m more than just my beauty—I’m purposeful, and I’m here to do what I was called to do. There’s so much work ahead, and I believe we can accomplish it together as a community. My goal is to continue inspiring through my work, help put the homeless in homes, donate to shelters, and support the youth. I want to be someone little black girls can look up to, knowing they can achieve anything they set their mind to because they saw me do it!

Q. Okay, so it's no secret you are a very attractive person. Our men readers would like to know, are you boo'd up or what? If so, split the tea. Who's  the lucky guy?

They keep me grounded in the best way, and I value that more than anything—because genuine love and care from the people around you is priceless. These days I have been more grateful for the things money can’t buy and they bring me that So, I always make sure to value our time together.

Q.  What advice would you give those wanting to start their journey in your field?

A. My advice for anyone starting this journey is to keep God first, pray hard, stay consistent, and trust the vision He gave you. Anything worth having won’t come easy—if it was, everyone would be doing it. Don’t let anyone place their limitations on you; you have everything inside of you to make your dreams a reality. Fall in love with the journey, connect genuinely, bring value, and have fun. There will be challenges and a lot of 'No's,' but remember, 'No' just means 'Next Opportunity.' Believe in yourself, show up for yourself, and take up space. You are set apart for a reason, and we can all win. Keep the faith—you got this!

Q. Who would you say is your biggest inspiration and why?

A. I’m inspired by people like Tyler Perry, Taraji P. Henson, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Crystal Haylsett, and my mentor Tola and Gyrl Wonder. But honestly, I’m my own biggest inspiration. I admire my strength and resilience—how I’ve been counted out many times yet kept going. Despite the hurt and attempts to tear me down, I’ve held onto my faith and stayed true to myself. The little girl inside of me is proud because I never let anyone silence my voice. I take up the space I deserve, and I’m truly proud of how far I’ve come
