A rising star in the trap rap scene, his journey is fueled by a deep love for his craft and an unwavering commitment to his future. In this exclusive interview, Mac Murda shares the essence of his artistry, his process, and the inspiration behind his latest projects. For Mac Murda, music isn’t just a career—it’s a legacy for his son. “My son is my biggest influence,” he says, a sentiment that runs deep through his lyrics and ambition. His sound, a hard-hitting blend of trap rap, mirrors the streets and his determination to succeed. But it’s not just about the music—it’s about building something for the next generation. His creative process is as spontaneous as it is intense. “Sometimes it takes me 15 to 20 minutes to drop three songs, sometimes 10 minutes for two,” he explains. “It all depends on how I’m feeling in the studio.” Whether he’s dropping heat in one take or perfecting every bar, the result is always fire. And the message? Simple yet powerful: “Make money, love what you do, and why you’re doing it.” Mac Murda’s latest project, Mr. Shit Popper Vol. 2, is a testament to his growth as an artist. But what keeps him motivated? “Knowing that I’m working on my son’s future,” he says. His dedication to family and his craft shines through every track, and it’s this drive that keeps him grounded. “The grind never stops. The hustle will always continue,” Mac Murda adds, encouraging his listeners to never settle and always strive for more. Despite his busy schedule, he keeps his fans engaged through social media, sharing his music across all platforms. “I focus on being me and not anybody else,” he says, remaining true to his authentic self in an industry full of imitators. Q. What would you say is the quote on quote secret recipe for your success?
A. My secret sauce is having unwavering faith and trusting God to guide my steps. I stay humble, motivated, and level-headed through prayer. I wouldn’t be anything without God and my faith. Being myself is key—God set me apart with a purpose before anyone had an opinion. I love being unique and wouldn't want to be anyone else. I’m the blueprint, and God made that clear!
Q. What was your favorite part about what you do?
A. Here’s a concise summary of your answer: "My favorite part of what I do is getting paid to live the life I always dreamed of and connecting with amazing, talented people. Coming from a place where opportunities are limited, I refuse to be a product of my environment—I choose to be the change. Living my dreams and inspiring others warms my heart because that’s what life is all about: impacting others positively, being there for each other, and pouring into one another.
Q. Name a time where you've faced adversity in your career? And, what impact did it have on you or your career?
A. I’ve faced plenty of adversity in my career, especially in an industry where you get more 'No's' than 'Yes's.' But all it takes is that one 'Yes'—and that one 'Yes' from God. When faced with challenges, I remind myself that God wouldn’t bring me this far just to stop now. He never breaks His promises, and that’s what keeps me going. I trust the vision He promised me and pray about everything.
Q. Is there something in particular that you want people to know about you or your art?
A. I want people to know that I’m more than just my beauty—I’m purposeful, and I’m here to do what I was called to do. There’s so much work ahead, and I believe we can accomplish it together as a community. My goal is to continue inspiring through my work, help put the homeless in homes, donate to shelters, and support the youth. I want to be someone little black girls can look up to, knowing they can achieve anything they set their mind to because they saw me do it!
Q. Okay, so it's no secret you are a very attractive person. Our men readers would like to know, are you boo'd up or what? If so, split the tea. Who's the lucky guy?
A. I’m very much a lover girl, I’m very much boo’d up real bad I love being his baby! Yes I love my man lol he is sooo inspiring watching him be who he is he’s so caring he provides like a man should and he’s so impactful it’s very motivating that’s all I got for yall I don’t play about my man lol!
Q. How do you juggle your personal life and professional life?
A. It’s all about balance, but I always make time. Business is business, and I stand on it, but I also prioritize quality time with my loved ones. They keep me grounded in the best way, and I value that more than anything—because genuine love and care from the people around you is priceless. These days I have been more grateful for the things money can’t buy and they bring me that So, I always make sure to value our time together.
Q. What advice would you give those wanting to start their journey in your field?
A. My advice for anyone starting this journey is to keep God first, pray hard, stay consistent, and trust the vision He gave you. Anything worth having won’t come easy—if it was, everyone would be doing it. Don’t let anyone place their limitations on you; you have everything inside of you to make your dreams a reality. Fall in love with the journey, connect genuinely, bring value, and have fun. There will be challenges and a lot of 'No's,' but remember, 'No' just means 'Next Opportunity.' Believe in yourself, show up for yourself, and take up space. You are set apart for a reason, and we can all win. Keep the faith—you got this!
Q. Who would you say is your biggest inspiration and why?
A. I’m inspired by people like Tyler Perry, Taraji P. Henson, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Crystal Haylsett, and my mentor Tola and Gyrl Wonder. But honestly, I’m my own biggest inspiration. I admire my strength and resilience—how I’ve been counted out many times yet kept going. Despite the hurt and attempts to tear me down, I’ve held onto my faith and stayed true to myself. The little girl inside of me is proud because I never let anyone silence my voice. I take up the space I deserve, and I’m truly proud of how far I’ve come
Q. Ok we do this every interview! What creatives would you absolutely die to work with?
A. I’m LIVING because I speak life over myself, and I’m so excited to work more with Tyler Perry. I’m manifesting being a series regular on Zatima one day—I got to day play on the show, and I can’t wait to work on more of his projects like Sistas.
