Get To Know ATL Artist Marlé Blu


Marlé is a songwriter/artist who was born in Austin, Texas and raised in Warner Robins, Georgia. She moved to Atlanta after high school to attend Georgia State University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Sociology. As a child, Marlé Blu spent a lot of time writing short stories and poetry. She loved to tap into her imagination and come up with creative plots. In middle school, at age 12, she began turning her poetry into raps. Her hobby for rhyming words became a love for writing lyrics and making music. As an 8th grade student, Marlé Blu was a regular call in on the freestyle radio show entitled "Who Got The Flava" hosted by Dj Skillz on 97.9 WIBB. 

Marlé Blu was the winner of the "Lyricist of the Year Award" at the Atlanta Hip Hop Awards, winner of the "Encore 3" talent contest (which was hosted by Hoodrich's Dj Scream) and was the recipient of the Hot Block Magazine Award Show's Female Rap Artist award. 

Currently, Marlé Blu is the voiceover actress for Lauren the Ladybug on the "85 South Show Presents: The Roach Motel". Her latest single "Take Yo" (featured on the Good Vibes Only Vol 1 compilation) is on all digital streaming platforms and its visually compelling yet comical new video is available on Youtube as well. "Bathroom", another single of hers (which is also featured on the GVO compilation) is currently out on all platforms as well as the visual on Youtube. Get To Know Streets & Young Deuces

 


Streetz-n-Young Deuces also known as SNYD is an American hip-hop group consisting of Mark and Rudy Strong. They are best known for the songs "Mad Flavor" and "So Fresh" from the AND1 DVD series. They are members and leaders of the hip-hop collective EMP Gang. Cousins Mark and Rudy Strong grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and have been working on music since a very young age. Inspired by artists like Jay-Z, DMX, and Method Man & Redman, the two decided to take music more seriously and pursue their passion as a career. In 2008 they released their mixtape We Want In Vol. 2, which resulted in being featured in The Source's "Unsigned Hype Section" and the UK'sRago Magazine.Their single "So Fresh" was featured on the AND1 DVD series. The mixtape went on to sell more than 15,000 units independently throughout the following year. Immediately after the success of We Want In Vol. 2, Streetz-n-Young Deuces released their next mixtape, Money Marathon, a more commercial mixtape with more radio appeal than their previous work. The mixtape gained the group more magazine slots, including reviews in Ozone Magazine and Hip-Hop Weekly, and helped them get the attention of Aphilliates Music Group. In 2009, Streetz-n-Young Deuces started working with DJ Drama's protege, DJ Head Debiase, and went on to release two mixtapes through their brand. Straight Drop Muzik 1 & 2 were both heavy successes, posted on many notable hip-hop websites. With the help of Aphilliates Music Group, Streetz-n-Young Deuces went on to win "Up and Coming Artist of The Year" at the 1st Annual Get Em' Magazine Awards and "Best Indy Group" at the 6th Annual Southern Entertainment Awards.That same year, Streetz-n-Young Deuces inked a sponsorship from Crunk Energy Drink, which has also sponsored Lil Jon, Pitbull, and Paul Wall.Streetz-n-Young Deuces began working on their 6th mixtape, Next Day Air, hosted by Shade 45 DJ, DJ Averi Minor, and sponsored by major blog RubyHornet.com in 2011. The mixtape took nearly a year to be created but turned out to be one of the group's most credible mixtape with features from Mickey Factz and The Black Wall Street Records artist Mysonne. TasteBudz is an mixed African and American woman and is best known as a seductive hardcore rapper specializing in R&B, Rap, and Party Music. With over 6.5k followers and subscribers on Instagram @taste.dez.budz_ladii.kee and Facebook, Twitter ect. Her content has over 5k total views since 2021. Tracking her performance she has reached 32.1k accounts within 30 days. TasteBudz has performed for multiple organizations like PhillyStopTheViolence, MyVisionEnt Showcase, 2HotRadio, Herbs and Words spoken house and more. She Just released her new single King (Rock-a-bye) and is currently working on her EP. She has been working to throw her own showcase to help other musicians and artists reach their goals. It's multiple things that started her career. But being on 2HotRadio and Ranking #16 on the Hot 100 list for $10,000 reward is what started her ambition.

Joe-Nice: The Prince of Hip Hop Soul


Born and raised in Summerville, South Carolina, Joe-Nice is not your typical rap artist. His father introduced him to 80s & 90s Hip Hop, Disco, and Funk at a very early age. Some of the legendary performers who influenced him are: David Ruffin, Sam Cooke, Johnny Taylor, Nile Rogers, Run DMC and Heavy D. Nice began to do local talent shows in high school and quickly established himself not only as a rapper, but as an entertainer. After high school, Nice attended college at the University of South Carolina Aiken. He continued to sharpen his skills throughout college, but focused on obtaining his bachelor's degree in communications. It was here, that he would meet his soon to be wife, who would eventually introduce him to Southern Soul music. The fall of 2014 proved to be special. Nice collaborated with one of the biggest names in Southern Soul, Nelson Curry, former lead singer of the Klassband Brotherhood. Nice co-produced and wrote the Southern Soul Smash "Party Starter," also featuring Mr. Blackfist. "Party Starter" proved to be the boost Joe-Nice needed. Following the success of "Party Starter," Joe-Nice was brought in to co-produce the remix of one of Southern Soul's biggest hits in recent memory, Nellie "Tiger" Travis,' "Mr Sexy Man." He has since collaborated with Southern Soul stars, Simeo Overall (formerly of Ca$hflow), Gentry-Jones, the Line-dance King, Big Mucci, and Mr. David, Formerly known as Pressha who sung 90's R&B smash "Splackavellie." With his already impressive resume, its easy to see why Joe-Nice is becoming one of the most sought after collaborators in Southern Soul.

So why should you be interested in this podcast? Well in every evolving realm of Geekdom, the Black Nerd (Blerds is what some people call us) are becoming more and more prominent in this space, and the line between what is in and what isn’t is being curated by that of such. We have successfully been on the front steps of that movement being 4 members of the hip-hop community (Emcees, producers and an engineer) who all have accomplished so much as well as established nerds who are respected in that culture as well. Look into the field, there isn’t anyone talking about both cultures the way we do.

So who is Geekset? Young Deuces, Bacardi, Lib & Didge – 4 people that can go to a comic-con and be the coolest people there, cover all the event and that the community wants to be around and also can got to any hip hop setting and be just as important. The name itself is inspired by one of the greatest rap groups ever, Dipset and all of our covers are mixtape inspired and influenced. 

So tell me more about Geekset? Already covering major events such as Crunchy Roll Expo, C2E2, Wakanda-Con the Geekset crew has drawn the attention from Apple being highlighted in their “Black History Makers” section for the month of February, international and national Magazine interviews and respect amongst the whole podcast community. Not to mention their YouTube interview series “1 on 1 w/Deuces” in which they interview other celebrity Geeks such as Van Lathan (Formerly TMZ), Jean Elie (HBO Insecure), Timothy DelaGhetto (MTV Wild’n Out), Mickey Factz (XXL Freshman) & More. They have successfully created a space where people can geek out like they couldn’t do in other media platforms.

Samuel Herbert Berry, Jr (Sam Be Mixing)– Poet/rapper/songwriter/recording and mixing engineer Samuel Berry is the CEO and Founder of Asked of GOD Entertainment LLC (A.O.G ENT, LLC) and Sam Be Mixing Recordings LLC. Berry one of many rising stars coming out of the beautiful yet toilsome city of Columbia, SC, has made a name for himself as he raced to establish himself as the face of reality music in the south. Berry’s rich trademark sound captivates listeners while revealing his innermost beliefs through raw poetic and spiritual songs. His music and mixes can take you to the depths of a poor man’s soul and evaluate you to the heights of man’s greatest successes. He as an artist has been compared to Goodie Mobb (as a whole), Scarface, Kid Cudi, Nas, Common, Juvenile, and Tupac, but in his own right, he loves music that comes from the heart. Berry was born in Birmingham, Alabama though raised in Bessemer he spent the latter half of his youth to adulthood in Columbia, South Carolina. He began to seriously write poetry and perform while living in Atlanta, GA at the age of 25 and started his engineering career back home in Columbia, SC at the ripe age of 28. Berry’s self-penned poems have been heavily circulated in the Metro Atlanta area due to public television and collegiate literature. His engineering has risen the bar and given Columbia’s Independent Music a chance to partake with those on a mainstream level. Samuel Berry has been networking with local artists and businesses to establish his music and companies as a fortified tower in the south and propel it to every nation.

Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It had just hit theaters a week prior when the man who’d be known as BO$$ Money made his debut in Greenwood, South Carolina. He spent part of his childhood there until his mother passed away in 1999. As the new the world entered the new millennium, the teenager had to start over in a new city with his father. While some may’ve fallen through the cracks in that situation, he flourished as he killed it in speech, debate and community activities. All of these above laid the foundation for the performer he’d soon discover he’d be.Soon after he’d graduated high school a DJ friend of his introduced him to recording music and then and there, BO$$ Money was born. Now he’s working alongside legends such as D.C.’s Godfather and Atlanta’s own Kool Ace as he lives that grind hard, shine hard lifestyle.When the world was singing along to the likes of “SexyBack,” “Check On It” and “MoneyMaker,” BO$$ Money was dropping his debut. 2006 saw the release of the said debut, TrueWords. Since then the emcee has churned out almost a dozen albums. His latest being 2018’sEP, TLE Cook Up.The new album features We$ B on the lead single “DoubleBack.” It’s a song that is all about motivating and highlighting the hustle while at the same time entertaining the masses as abanger. Of course being from South Carolina, he represents that southern style with tracks like“Dirty South Slang.” At the end of the day, BO$$ Money is about the motivation. He notes, “I’m Giving you a real perspective on life as we live but also giving back by sharing the knowledge through the music.
