
Crystal Denise Jones known onstage simply as Ms. Crystal is a dynamic spoken word artist, performer, and creative force rooted deeply in Augusta, Georgia. Born and raised in the Jennings Homes community and graduating from Glenn Hills High School in 1992, Crystal’s artistic voice was shaped early by her family’s gift for storytelling and her first performances in church, where she memorized and delivered Bible verses to the congregation. Education has played a strong role in Crystal’s life. She earned a B.Sc. in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Welfare from the University of West Georgia, and later pursued graduate studies in social work at the University of South Carolina-Columbia, graduating with a Master of Social Work in 2013. She currently holds professional social work licenses in both Georgia and South Carolina, reflecting her long-standing commitment to serving people beyond the stage. Ms. Crystal’s performances are not just poetry they are lived experience. Her words have resonated at community events like the National Action Network of the CSRA’s Juneteenth Celebration, where she delivered performances that honored history while stirring hearts. Her creativity extends beyond live performance. Crystal has published poems including My Dilemma and Time in the Namaste Ink literary journal, and has expanded into music, releasing her first single, “Forever Cocky,” in October 2019. She has since collaborated on tracks like Hard Times with Whoop featuring Crystal Jones, and launched her first EP, Street Songs, on her birthday, January 2, 2021. Beyond spoken word and music, Ms. Crystal has worn many artistic hats from commercial acting and theatre to athletics and even Middle Eastern dance showcasing her range and versatility as a performer. Her work, both on and off the stage, mirrors her belief in the power of words to heal, uplift, and connect. Through poetry, performance, and community involvement, Ms. Crystal continues to be an influential voice in the CSRA arts scene an artist who doesn’t just express herself, but brings others along through every story she tells.

Introducing to some,(artist's name). So, tell our readers that may not be familiar with you or your work
just who you are and what it is that you do exactly.
A. I am Ms. Crystal. I am an artist from Augusta, GA. I express my creativity in several different ways, pageantry,
middle eastern dance, and music.
Q. So, what inspired you to start your journey as a poet and entertainer?
A. My parents, our history, and our environment..
Q.. How and when did you coin your stage name and how do you feel that title fits you?
A. Ms. Crystal is name given to by my community in my profession of social services. I thought it was a bit country.
Then, a once co-worker from New York called Ms. Crystal. So I just used. My parents didn't allow us to have
nicknames. All that alter ego names and just didn't work for me. I experienced things as Crystal. I write about them
as Crystal.
Q. Do you have any upcoming projects or announcements to make?
A. My plan to compete in the National Imperial Miss State Pageant in the fall. I am going to compete in 2hotradio Who
want to Make it in June. My 50th birthday is coming up on January 2, 2024. I have decided if I am going to release
something new or not at the moment.
Q. What would you say is the quote on quote secret recipe for your success?
A. LIVE OUT LOUD
Q. What was your favorite part about what you do?
A. Telling my story and people are actually listening.

A. Hopefully, Love. Finding someone to experience this journey with..
Q. Is there something in specific that you want people to know about you or your art?
A. My art tells a story. A lot of people haven't heard me do an entire set. When I am a feature, I pick single that tell a
story about a particular time in my life or event.
Q. What advice would you give those wanting to start their journey in your field?
A. It is okay to have more than one dream.
Q. Who would you say is your biggest inspiration and why?
A. My parents. They are more open minded than a lot of people know. They introduced to so many different genres of
music.

A. I would say Rod Stewart, Bruce Hornsby and the Rain, and Ashanti.
