From overcoming adversity to creating compelling stories for the screen and page, Shaun Sinclair is transforming life experiences into powerful works of art that inspire, challenge, and entertain audiences.
Shaun Sinclair is an American independent filmmaker,
screenwriter, producer, and bestselling author who has
successfully transitioned a prolific literary career into
mainstream entertainment. Born and raised in Atlantic
Beach, South Carolina, Sinclair initially pursued music,
running his own independent rap record label at age 19
while serving in the U.S. Army. Following a period of
incarceration, during which he worked as a prison law
clerk and wrote 10 novels, he transformed his life by
dedicating himself entirely to the arts. He began selling his work independently, moving over 30,000 copies before securing a major multi-book publishing deal with Kensington Publishing/Dafina Books. Renowned for pioneering the "Gangsterotica" genre—a gritty blend of urban crime fiction and erotica—Sinclair authored popular books like Skin Deep and Beats and Blow. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, he founded Pen 2 Pen Publishing, a firm that has assisted more than 140 independent authors, and served as the Editor-in-Chief of Respected Roots Magazine. In 2019, Sinclair expanded his empire into film and television by launching Pen 2 Pen Multimedia, taking on the roles of writer, director, and executive producer to adapt his stories for the screen. He made his feature film directorial debut with the crime thriller The Setup (2021), which earned critical acclaim and streaming distribution on Tubi. He followed this success by writing and executive producing the feature film Sugar Baby, which secured a prominent streaming release on BET+.

Sinclair also documented his own life journey from inmate to entertainment mogul in the self-
directed documentary Behind the Pen. Solidifying his
status as a television showrunner, he wrote, directed, and produced the gritty series Shaun Sinclair's Mogul, which centers on an ex-drug kingpin and an adult online model building an underground business empire. Following the widespread streaming success of the show's first season on Tubi, Sinclair continued to expand his cinematic footprint by launching the highly anticipated second season of Mogul in early 2026.
